Bio

Kate works with words and video, as a writer, researcher, director and editor, and produces workshops and events for cultural organisations, community groups and schools. 

Kate's interests include narrative, cross-disciplinary practice and community collaboration. Her short films have screened internationally, including at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, on ABC TV, SBS and the Comedy Channel. She has exhibited works at galleries including Westspace, Craft Victoria, Seventh GalleryC3 Contemporary Art Space, Kick GalleryColourbox Studio and the Baltic Centre forContemporary Art (UK)She has worked as the Public Programs Producer at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, as a Curator for the National Film and Sound Archive's Australian Screen project, a lecturer in creative media at RMIT University and Monash University and developed community workshops and education programs for organisations including Artplay, Signal, Chamber Made Opera at the Venny, Craft Victoria, the 'She Can Create'project and the Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre. Recent achievements include preselection for the 'Berlin Today Award' at the Berlin International Film Festival (2012), working as an artist in residence at Yirrkala School in North-East Arnhem Land, and as a researcher for a novel by Peter Carey.
